Who's Got The Golden Ticket?

So NIN madness is upon us once more as I mentioned in the previous post. The first round of sales were a mix of pre-sales and NIN.com exclusive sales for the NYC, Chicago and LA shows. First of all, I somehow got lucky and managed to grab one ticket to the FUCKING BOWERY BALLROOM SHOW. That place is so tiny.I was about to lose my shit in the office. My boss was laughing at me the whole time. I also got a ticket to the 8/25 Terminal 5 show. I felt really bad because I was on the phone with a close friend, who I met at the Atlantic City show, who did not get any tickets.

So later that day, I took a shot at the LA sales. I never traveled for any band. Never ever. It's an insane idea to me. I tried and failed. Didn't get anything. Now, the whole day my friends and I were talking back and forth on Twitter about the ticket madness. I posted that I wasn't going to LA. A second later my friend replies saying, "Oh yes you are. I have one extra." And yet another moment of almost losing my shit. My friend who I met at a Bjork concert got an extra for the Wiltern NIN show. Aweeesooome. It will be the second to last NIN show for a very long time.

A few days after that I booked my flight for LA and planned a week vacation to go kayaking with my brother further up in Santa Cruz.

So today is the ticketmaster pre-sale for two NYC shows and Chicago shows. I'm going to attempt to get tickets for the second Terminal 5 show, if only to get a ticket for my friend who couldn't get any NY tickets. Third chance is the public sale next Friday. Hmmm...time to break the internet again.

Delicious Noms

In in effort to act like a grown-up, I've decided I'm going to start two other blogs for baking and cooking. I can cook, I swear and my friends have experienced the delights of eating my cupcakes.

The idea first started when I was looking at baking blogs for the site I work for and noticed that a few people were not only posting what came out of their oven, but also offering them for sale. I don't really see how this works since you can't taste it, but hey...if I can make some extra dough (hah!pun!) by doing what I like, I'll give it a try.

Then today I thought that baking is fun and I should also do a cooking blog. Cooking vegetarian can be hard and limiting if you aren't experienced in the kitchen (as I found out when I first tried being a vegetarian in high school). I figured it would be easier to keep track of my recipes if I started a cooking blog as well. Experimenting with different ingredients can be fun, so I'll track that too. Stay tuned for links.

The Big Comedown

So, I was in Times Square today with my nephew walking to a pizza place when I get a text message from Anna saying that not only was NIN coming back for more U.S. shows (after announcing that Bonnaroo was his last show on U.S. soil--jerk), but that there were THREE NYC DATES. Not only that, but they were going to be small venue shows. My heart started beating like crazy at that point. They also planned on playing one night in Chicago and 4 nights in LA. I took that photo at the Camden show in June. Even though they were a little off their game that night, it was still the best show ever because it would be the last time I would be in the pit having the time of my life.

So when I heard this news, I was immediately ecstatic and then thought, is this a joke? I texted Jonathan as well as Bryan a bit later and they confirmed hearing the same rumor and that it was posted by Trent Reznor on nin.com. Last time I saw them in NYC was the first time I saw them, back in 2005 during the With Teeth tour. It's almost like coming full circle, but even better. Apparently, they will be playing at the Bowery, Terminal 5 and Webster Hall. I already know getting tickets are going to be a bitch.

And right now I'm already looking at flights to LA. Awesome.I need another job for all the future bills I will have to pay.

Destructiiiiooon!

While trying to clean out folders on my laptop to free up space, I stumbled across season one of The Young Ones! I completely forgot I had this. I considered showing it to my nephew when he visits, since he might think it's cool. There are some scenes I'm unsure of, like when they first move into the house and Mike scatters lingerie all over his room and puts on a tape loop of a woman having sex. He's mature and watches some movies not meant for his age, but I don't want it coming from me, ya know? Anyway, this show is amazing and I'm totally going to watch all those videos later.

In other news, I ended up deleting the 5 part Randy Grief album I had. It's amazing and I'd really like to own a physical copy of it one day, but the file is huge and I hardly listen to it. It was a FLAC file and I'm sure there are some blogs out there with a compressed version.

And on a related note, I'm conflicted about purchasing some antique Alice books. They're quite an investment, but it's something I've been wanting to collect for a while and I even have a shelf where I can put them. In the meantime, I'll settle for some interesting pre-80's Alice memorabilia I've seen around EbaY.

Still on the second job hunt, unfortunately. There are some paying art assist gigs that I applied for recently and waiting for a reply. I really need to get my shit together and build a site for my portfolio. At this point it's kind of embarrassing I don't have one yet.
